A variety of radiation therapy systems are available for brain cancer. The most popular system is based on a stereotactic linear accelerator (LINAC) on a rotating gantry. While computer analysis is already used to determine the treatment location, only manual calibration of the beam accuracy has been available.
Fortunately, Cernotics and DiversiLabs have teamed up to create an easy-to-use computerized analysis package that uses proprietary digital image algorithms from DiversiLabs and custom interface software from Cernotics to enable clinical users to align the stereotactic system within 0.2 mm of the radiation beam isocenter. This is a dramatic improvement over the current 1.5 mm radial alignment specification of a commercial linear accelerator based stereotactic system.
